Hewitt hopes to be back for Paris after foot surgery

Hard-luck Lleyton Hewitt has undergone another operation, this time on his foot. But the 30-year-old Australian is hoping to be scampering around back on court by the French Open at the latest.

Speculation on the Hewitt pullout from this week's Miami Masters was confirmed by the ATP, with the Melbourne's Herald Sun reporting that the surgery had indeed taken place. "My foot has been troubling me for some time and I needed surgery to enable me to compete at my best with the two Grand Slams coming up soon," the paper quoted the two-time Grand Slam champion as saying.

Hewitt has already comeback from surgeries on each hip, but his form in recent seasons has failed to impress.

Since a disappointing first-round loss at the Australian Open, Hewitt has won back-to-back matches on American hardcourts in San Jose and Memphis in February but went out in the opening round of the Indian Wells Masters.
